Five Ways to Fish For New Leads

Five Ways to Fish For New Leads

July 30th, 2021

Referrals

Your existing merchant base is going to be the first resource you should use. Most new sales come from referrals from existing clients. Referrals are more like an endorsement of your value as a service and help create a network to generate more warm leads in the future.

Former Merchants and Lost Leads

Just because you lost a deal doesn’t mean you cease all contact. They are aware of you, they liked your services before and they can again if you keep in touch. Many times merchants will switch services thinking the grass is greener, when in reality you were providing better service. Make it easy for them to call you back and periodically check in to see how they are doing.

Google ‘Em!

As simple as it seems, Google is an incredible resource with troves of invaluable information. A simple Google search of “hardware stores in my area” can provide you with a decent list of cold leads to work. You can setup Google alerts for many different criteria that notify you directly via email. Even Google Maps can help you narrow down your search area of different merchants near you.

Digital Marketing

Build a website optimized for SEO and web forms for lead generation. Wix has great tools available to improve you SEO for organic web leads. As well, using LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter actively can improve your digital reach. Like or join local commerce groups associations and actively participate to stay visible. Want to learn more? Old Fashioned Networking

Joining local commerce groups or other local organizations centered on businesses are a tried-and-true method of sourcing leads. Face to face networking provides you with a real connection that is proven to be more effective than digital networking. If you have the opportunity to, try to always meet your potential clients, either in their shop or by offering coffee or a meal. Merchant events are a great way to maximize your time and exposure to many merchants in a concentrated setting. For more merchant event marketing tips, watch our event marketing webinar.
